The much awaited function of every school is the celebration of the Annual function. This year DPS Dhaligaon celebrated this gala event on 3rd May 2017 in the RCCC auditorium IOCL Bongaigaon Refinery in presence of esteemed dignitaries and parents.
The programme was graced by Sri A K Hazarika, Vice Chairman, Managing Committee, DPS Dhaligaon as the chief guest and by Sri G C Sikdhar, General Manager (In-Charge), IOCL Bongaigaon Refinery and the Pro-Vice Chairman of the school’s managing committee as the guest of honour.
The function started with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by honourable chief guest, guest of honour and the principal Sri A K Mishra. Holy chanting of the Sanskrit Shlokas filled the ambience with pure serenity. This was followed by the presentation of the Welcome Song by the school choir. Principal Sri A K Mishra presented the school’s Annual report highlighting the school students at state as well as national level. The Guest of Honour Sri G C Sikdhar appreciated the achievements made by the students of the school and ensured all necessary support from Bongaigaon Refinery for the betterment of the school and its students. The Vice Chairman Sri A K Hazarika highlighted the importance of hardwork and diligence in students to achieve higher success. He further illustrated how a school can play a major role in identifying the potentials of its students and then nurture them to grow. After the enlightening speeches by the guest, the next agenda was the prize distribution ceremony. Prizes were distributed by the chief guest , the guest of Honour and the Principal to the achievers of different categories viz. the best improved students, the best disciplined students and the 100% attendance of the session 2016-17. The chief guest also awarded the prize for the 100% attendance for the teachers to Mr. D. Das for the third consecutive year. The chief guest also awarded the best house in cultural (Yamuna) and academics (Ganga).
The Prize distribution ceremony was followed by a cultural extravaganza with the vibe of serenity, setting the stage for a euphoric journey of cultural programs. This was followed by an attractive performance by the Tiny tots of classes I and II. This was followed by an intercultural dance by the students of classes III to V. The students of Classes VI to VIII presented a dance on the theme Namami Brahmaputra which was followed by a thought provoking mime show on the uses and misuses of selfie. The cultural programme came to an ends with an electrifying dance performance of the ball room dance and salsa by the senior students.
One of the overall co-ordinator of the Annual Function Mrs. A.D Choudhury offered her vote of thanks to one and all, acknowledging their contribution to the overwhelming success of the event. She specially thanked the Chief patron of the Event Sri G.C Sikdar for his immense support and the Patron and Principal Sri A K Mishra for his guidance and to Head Master and the chief co-ordinator Dr. R.K .Misra for his co-operation in conducting the Annual Function. She also thanked the head master and the program controller Sri N.K. Singh for his timely help and guidance. The overall co-ordinator of the program were Ms. A.D Choudhury, Mr. R. Subedi, Mr. J.P .Misra and Ms. K. Bhattacharjee.
Finally the event full and memorable program came to an end with the singing of the national anthem by all present at the venue.
