The most awaited function of every school is the celebration of Annual Function. This year, DPS Dhaligaon celebrated this gala event on 3rd June'16 at the RCCC auditorium IOCL Bongaigaon Refinery in presence of esteemed dignitaries and parents.
The programme was graced by Sri A.K Hazarika, Vice Chairman,Managing Committee,DPS Dhaligaon as the chief guest and by Sri L.W.Khongwir, Executive Director, IOCL Bongaigaon Refinery and the Pro-Vice Chairman of the school's managing committee as the guest of honour. Presence of madam Dr. D. Khongwir the first lady of the IOCL Bongaigaon Refinery Township added grace to the occasion. The revered dignitaries Sri R.K.Sharma, General Manager(Project)IOCL,BGR, Sri Manas Bora, Deputy General Manager(HR),Sri E.Gopinathan, Chief Finance Manager(F&A), Sri M. Deva Sharma, CERM, IOCL Bongaigaon Refinery made their courteous presence at the event.
The function started with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by honourable chief guest, guest of honour and the principal Sri A.K Mishra. Holy chanting of the Sanskrit Shlokas filled the ambience with pure serenity. This was followed by the presentation of the Welcome Song by the school choir. Principal Sri A.K.Mishra presented the school's annual report highlighting the achievements of the school students in AISSE and AISSCE along with other outstanding achievements at state as well as national level. The Guest of Honour Sri L.W Khongwir appreciated the achievements made by the students of the school and ensured all necessary support from Bongaigaon Refinery for the betterment of the school and its students. The Chief Guest Sri A.K.Hazarika highlighted the importance of hard work and diligence in students to achieve higher success. He further illustrated how a school can play a major role in identifying the potentials of its students and then nurture them to grow. After the enlightening speeches by the guests, the next agenda was the prize distribution ceremony. Prizes were distributed by the chief guest, the guest of honour and the principal to the achievers of different categories viz.the rank holders of AISSE and AISSCE-2016,the best improved students and the best disciplined students of the session 2015-16,teachers rendering 100% attendance to school, SMTE achievers, the best house in Cultural(Ganga) and academics(Brahmaputra). A special prize was given to Ms.Jennifer Hussain who achieved 100% attendance in school from Play Group I to Class X (12 academic years).
The Prize distribution ceremony was followed by the unveiling of the 13th edition of the school Annual Magazine Oracle by the chief guest and the guest of honour in presence of the principal and the members of the Editorial Board of the magazine on the stage.
The Cultural Extravaganza started with a Vishnu Vandana setting the stage for an euphoric journey of varities of cultural programmes. This was followed by an attractive and foot tapping performance by the tiny tots of Classes I & II. The message of the urgent need of conserving environment was beautifully presented through a dance drama by the students of Classes III-V. A short skit The parable of India was enacted to enlighten the audience with the enigma of our country and its incredibility. This was followed by a powerful dance performance on the tunes of Marathi Songs by the students of Classes VI-VIII. The cultural programmed came to an end with an electrifying dance performance of the contemporary dance styles by the senior students.
Headmaster and the Chief co ordinator of the Annual Function Dr.R.K.Mishra offered his vote of thanks to one and all, acknowledging their contribution to the overwhelming success of the event. He specially thanked the chief patron of the event Sri L.W Khongwir for his immense support, to the patron and principal Sri A.K.Mishra for his guidance and to headmaster and the programme controller Sri N.K.Singh for his cooperation in conducting the Annual Function. The over all co-ordinators of the programme were Ms.G.Bora, Mr.P.Kushwaha, Ms Babita Sharma and Mr.B.Barman.
Finally the eventful and memorable programme came to an end with the singing of the National Anthem by all present at the venue.
